Description
A gourmet grilled cheese sandwich featuring melty brie cheese and sweet-spiced apple butter, grilled until golden and irresistibly gooey.
Ingredients
- 4 slices artisan bread (sourdough or country white)
- 4 oz (115 g) brie cheese, sliced (rind on or off)
- 4 tbsp apple butter
- 2 tbsp unsalted butter, softened
Instructions
- Heat a skillet or griddle over medium heat.
- Butter one side of each bread slice.
- Place two slices of bread butter-side down on the skillet.
- Spread apple butter evenly over the unbuttered side of the bread.
- Layer brie cheese on top of the apple butter.
- Top with remaining bread slices, butter-side up.
- Cook for 3–4 minutes per side until bread is golden and cheese is melted.
- Remove from skillet, rest 1 minute, slice, and serve warm.
Notes
- Use low heat to allow the brie to melt fully without burning the bread.
- Add thinly sliced apples for extra texture.
- Pairs well with tomato soup or a simple green salad.
