Description
Basil Pesto Cheesy Puff Pastry Christmas Tree is a festive, flaky appetizer made with buttery puff pastry layered with basil pesto and melted cheese, shaped into a holiday tree perfect for parties and celebrations.
Ingredients
- 2 sheets puff pastry, thawed
- 1/2 cup basil pesto
- 1 1/2 cups shredded mozzarella cheese
- 1/2 cup grated Parmesan cheese
- 1 large egg, beaten (for egg wash)
- Optional: red pepper flakes
- Optional: marinara sauce for dipping
Instructions
- Preheat oven to 400°F (200°C) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
- Roll out one sheet of puff pastry on the prepared baking sheet.
- Spread basil pesto evenly over the pastry.
- Sprinkle mozzarella and Parmesan cheese evenly on top.
- Place the second puff pastry sheet on top and gently press to seal.
- Cut the pastry into a large Christmas tree shape.
- Cut horizontal strips on both sides of the tree, leaving the center intact.
- Twist each strip gently to form branches.
- Brush the entire pastry with beaten egg and sprinkle with red pepper flakes if desired.
- Bake for 20–25 minutes until golden brown and puffed.
- Serve warm with marinara sauce for dipping if desired.

- Work quickly to keep puff pastry cold.
- Use homemade or store-bought pesto.
