Description

Ingredients

  • 2 sheets puff pastry, thawed
  • 1/2 cup basil pesto
  • 1 1/2 cups shredded mozzarella cheese
  • 1/2 cup grated Parmesan cheese
  • 1 large egg, beaten (for egg wash)

  • Optional: marinara sauce for dipping

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 400°F (200°C) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
  2. Roll out one sheet of puff pastry on the prepared baking sheet.
  3. Spread basil pesto evenly over the pastry.
  4. Sprinkle mozzarella and Parmesan cheese evenly on top.
  5. Place the second puff pastry sheet on top and gently press to seal.
  6. Cut the pastry into a large Christmas tree shape.
  7. Cut horizontal strips on both sides of the tree, leaving the center intact.
  8. Twist each strip gently to form branches.
  9. Brush the entire pastry with beaten egg and sprinkle with red pepper flakes if desired.
  10. Bake for 20–25 minutes until golden brown and puffed.
