Description
A hearty and comforting casserole that combines seasoned ground beef, creamy cheese sauce, and crispy French fries baked together for a cheeseburger-inspired family meal.
Ingredients
- 1 lb (450g) ground beef
- 1 small onion, diced
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
- 1 teaspoon paprika
- 1 tablespoon ketchup
- 1 tablespoon yellow mustard
- 1 cup (120g) shredded cheddar cheese
- 1/2 cup (120ml) milk
- 1 can (10.5 oz) condensed cream of mushroom or cream of cheddar soup
- 3 cups frozen French fries
- 1/2 cup (60g) shredded mozzarella cheese
- 2 tablespoons chopped pickles (optional)
- 2 tablespoons chopped parsley (optional)
Instructions
- Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C) and lightly grease a 9×13-inch baking dish.
- In a large skillet over medium heat, cook the ground beef and diced onion until the beef is browned. Drain excess grease.
- Add minced garlic, salt, pepper, and paprika. Cook for another minute until fragrant.
- Stir in ketchup, mustard, condensed soup, and milk. Mix well until a creamy mixture forms.
- Fold in shredded cheddar cheese and cook until melted.
- Transfer the beef mixture into the prepared baking dish and spread evenly.
- Arrange frozen French fries evenly on top of the beef mixture.
- Sprinkle mozzarella cheese over the fries.
- Bake for 25–30 minutes until the fries are crispy and golden.
- Remove from the oven and garnish with chopped pickles and parsley if desired. Serve warm.
Notes
- You can add diced tomatoes or cooked bacon for extra cheeseburger flavor.
- For crispier fries, bake them separately for 10 minutes before adding to the casserole.
- Store leftovers in the refrigerator for up to 3 days and reheat in the oven for best texture.
