Ingredients
- 1 cup unsalted butter, softened
- 1/2 cup powdered sugar
- 2 cups all-purpose flour
- 1/4 tsp salt
- 1 tsp vanilla extract
- 25 soft caramel candies, unwrapped
- 2 tbsp heavy cream
- 1 1/2 cups milk chocolate chips
Instructions
- Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C) and line a baking pan with parchment paper.
- In a bowl, cream together butter and powdered sugar until smooth.
- Mix in vanilla extract.
- Add flour and salt, mixing until a soft dough forms.
- Press the dough evenly into the prepared pan.
- Bake for 15–18 minutes until lightly golden. Let cool slightly.
- In a saucepan over low heat, melt caramels with heavy cream, stirring until smooth.
- Pour caramel evenly over the baked shortbread and let set for 10 minutes.
- Melt chocolate chips and spread evenly over the caramel layer.
- Refrigerate until fully set, then cut into bars or squares.
