Description
A bold twist on classic stroganoff featuring spicy blackened shrimp tossed in a creamy garlic mushroom sauce and served over tender noodles or rice.
Ingredients
- 1 lb (450 g) large shrimp, peeled and deveined
- 2 tbsp olive oil
- 1 tsp smoked paprika
- 1/2 tsp cayenne pepper
- 1/2 tsp garlic powder
- 1/2 tsp onion powder
- 1/2 tsp salt
- 1/2 tsp black pepper
- 2 tbsp unsalted butter
- 8 oz (225 g) mushrooms, sliced
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- 1 cup heavy cream
- 1/2 cup sour cream
- 1/2 cup chicken or seafood broth
- 1/2 tsp Dijon mustard
- 8 oz (225 g) egg noodles or rice
- Chopped parsley for garnish
Instructions
- Cook egg noodles or rice according to package instructions; set aside.
- In a bowl, toss shrimp with olive oil, paprika, cayenne, garlic powder, onion powder, salt, and pepper.
- Heat a large skillet over medium-high heat and sear shrimp for 2–3 minutes per side until blackened and cooked through; remove and set aside.
- In the same skillet, melt butter and sauté mushrooms until golden.
- Add garlic and cook for 30 seconds until fragrant.
- Stir in broth, heavy cream, sour cream, and Dijon mustard.
- Simmer on low heat until sauce thickens slightly.
- Return shrimp to the skillet and toss gently to coat.
- Serve over noodles or rice and garnish with parsley.
Notes
- Adjust cayenne for desired spice level.
- Do not overcook shrimp to keep them tender.
- Serve immediately for best texture.
