Description
A festive Candy Cane Caprese appetizer made by arranging alternating slices of fresh mozzarella and tomatoes into a candy cane shape, drizzled with olive oil and balsamic glaze.
Ingredients
- Fresh mozzarella, sliced – 8 oz
- Roma or beefsteak tomatoes, sliced – 2 large
- Fresh basil leaves – 1/2 cup loosely packed
- Olive oil – 2 tbsp
- Balsamic glaze – 1–2 tbsp
- Salt – to taste
- Black pepper – to taste
Instructions
- Slice the mozzarella and tomatoes into even rounds.
- On a serving platter, arrange the mozzarella and tomato slices alternately in a curved candy cane shape.
- Tuck fresh basil leaves between some of the layers.
- Drizzle the olive oil evenly over the arranged caprese.
- Add a light drizzle of balsamic glaze for sweetness and shine.
- Season with salt and black pepper before serving.
Notes
- Use similar-sized tomato and mozzarella slices for a clean presentation.
- Balsamic glaze works better than vinegar for this recipe since it won’t bleed into the cheese.
