Description

A festive Candy Cane Caprese appetizer made by arranging alternating slices of fresh mozzarella and tomatoes into a candy cane shape, drizzled with olive oil and balsamic glaze.

Ingredients

  • Fresh mozzarella, sliced – 8 oz
  • Roma or beefsteak tomatoes, sliced – 2 large
  • Fresh basil leaves – 1/2 cup loosely packed
  • Olive oil – 2 tbsp
  • Balsamic glaze – 1–2 tbsp
  • Salt – to taste
  • Black pepper – to taste

Instructions

  1. Slice the mozzarella and tomatoes into even rounds.
  2. On a serving platter, arrange the mozzarella and tomato slices alternately in a curved candy cane shape.
  3. Tuck fresh basil leaves between some of the layers.
  4. Drizzle the olive oil evenly over the arranged caprese.
  5. Add a light drizzle of balsamic glaze for sweetness and shine.
  6. Season with salt and black pepper before serving.

Notes

  • Use similar-sized tomato and mozzarella slices for a clean presentation.
  • Balsamic glaze works better than vinegar for this recipe since it won’t bleed into the cheese.
  • Serve immediately for the freshest texture.
