Ingredients

  • 6 cups Crispix cereal
  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter
  • 1/2 cup brown sugar, packed
  • 1/4 cup light corn syrup
  • 1/2 tsp baking soda
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract
  • Optional: holiday sprinkles or sea salt for topping


Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 120°C (250°F) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
  2. Place Crispix cereal in a large mixing bowl.
  3. In a saucepan over medium heat, melt butter, brown sugar, and corn syrup.
  4. Bring to a gentle boil and cook for 2 minutes, stirring constantly.
  5. Remove from heat and carefully stir in baking soda and vanilla (mixture will foam).
  6. Immediately pour caramel mixture over the cereal and gently stir to coat evenly.
  7. Spread cereal onto prepared baking sheet.
  8. Bake for 45 minutes, stirring every 15 minutes.
  9. Remove from oven, sprinkle with optional toppings, and let cool completely.
  10. Break into pieces and store in an airtight container.
