Description

Cardamom Shortbread Cookies with Orange Glaze are tender, buttery cookies infused with warm cardamom spice and topped with a bright, citrusy orange glaze for an elegant and festive treat.

Ingredients

  • 1 cup unsalted butter, softened
  • 1/2 cup powdered sugar
  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 tsp ground cardamom
  • 1/4 tsp salt

  • 1 cup powdered sugar (for glaze)
  • 2 tbsp fresh orange juice
  • 1 tsp orange zest

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 325°F (165°C) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
  2. In a large bowl, cream the butter and powdered sugar until light and fluffy.
  3. Mix in vanilla extract.
  4. In a separate bowl, whisk together flour, cardamom, and salt.
  5. Gradually add the dry ingredients to the butter mixture until a soft dough forms.
  6. Roll dough into 1-inch balls and place on the baking sheet, gently flattening each.
  7. Bake for 12–15 minutes until edges are lightly golden.
  8. Allow cookies to cool completely.
  9. In a small bowl, whisk powdered sugar, orange juice, and orange zest to make the glaze.
  10. Drizzle glaze over cooled cookies and let set before serving.
