Ingredients
- 1 pound ground beef
- 1 small onion, diced
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- ½ teaspoon salt
- ¼ teaspoon black pepper
- 1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce
- 1 (10.5-ounce) can condensed cream of mushroom soup
- ½ cup sour cream
- 2 cups shredded cheddar cheese, divided
- 1 (28-ounce) bag frozen French fries
- Optional toppings: chopped pickles, ketchup, mustard, or green onions
Instructions
- Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C). Lightly grease a 9×13-inch baking dish.
- In a large skillet over medium heat, cook the ground beef until browned, about 5–6 minutes. Drain excess grease.
- Add diced onion and garlic to the beef and cook for another 2–3 minutes until softened.
- Season with salt, pepper, and Worcestershire sauce. Stir well.
- Remove from heat and mix in the cream of mushroom soup, sour cream, and 1 cup of cheddar cheese until combined.
- Spread the beef mixture evenly into the prepared baking dish.
- Top with a layer of frozen French fries, spreading them out evenly.
- Bake uncovered for 30–35 minutes, or until the fries are golden and crisp.
- Remove from oven and sprinkle the remaining 1 cup of cheddar cheese over the top. Return to the oven for 5 more minutes until cheese is melted and bubbly.
- Let cool for a few minutes before serving. Garnish with optional toppings like chopped pickles, ketchup, or green onions.
Notes
- Swap cream of mushroom soup for cream of cheddar or cream of chicken for a flavor twist.
- Add cooked bacon or diced tomatoes for extra cheeseburger flavor.
