Description
A comforting baked chicken dish smothered in marinara sauce and layers of melted mozzarella cheese, baked until bubbly and golden.
Ingredients
- 4 boneless skinless chicken breasts
- 1 tbsp olive oil
- 1 tsp salt
- 1/2 tsp black pepper
- 1 tsp garlic powder
- 1 tsp Italian seasoning
- 1 1/2 cups marinara sauce
- 2 cups shredded mozzarella cheese
- 1/4 cup grated parmesan cheese
- Fresh basil or parsley for garnish (optional)
Instructions
- Preheat oven to 190°C (375°F) and lightly grease a baking dish.
- Season chicken breasts with salt, pepper, garlic powder, and Italian seasoning.
- Heat olive oil in a skillet over medium-high heat and sear chicken for 2–3 minutes per side until lightly golden.
- Transfer chicken to the prepared baking dish.
- Pour marinara sauce evenly over the chicken.
- Top with shredded mozzarella and sprinkle parmesan cheese over the top.
- Bake uncovered for 25–30 minutes until chicken is cooked through and cheese is melted and bubbly.
- Garnish with fresh basil or parsley before serving.
Notes
- Use chicken thighs for a juicier result.
- Add sliced mushrooms or spinach under the sauce for extra flavor.
- Serve with pasta, rice, or garlic bread.
