Description

A cozy, family-favorite casserole made with tender chicken, savory stuffing, and a creamy sauce — the perfect weeknight comfort food that’s simple, hearty, and delicious.

Ingredients

  • 4 boneless, skinless chicken breasts
  • 1 (10.5-ounce) can cream of chicken soup
  • 1 (10.5-ounce) can cream of mushroom or cream of celery soup
  • 1 cup sour cream
  • ½ cup milk or chicken broth
  • 1 (6-ounce) box stuffing mix (like Stove Top)
  • ½ cup unsalted butter, melted
  • ½ teaspoon garlic powder
  • ½ teaspoon black pepper
  • ½ teaspoon dried thyme or poultry seasoning
  • Chopped parsley, for garnish

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C). Lightly grease a 9×13-inch baking dish.
  2. In a large bowl, combine stuffing mix with melted butter and ½ cup hot water or chicken broth. Stir to moisten and set aside.
  3. In another bowl, mix together cream of chicken soup, cream of mushroom soup, sour cream, milk (or broth), garlic powder, pepper, and thyme until smooth.
  4. Place the chicken breasts in a single layer in the prepared baking dish.
  5. Spread the creamy soup mixture evenly over the chicken.
  6. Spoon the prepared stuffing evenly over the top of the chicken and sauce layer.
  7. Cover with foil and bake for 35 minutes. Remove foil and bake for an additional 15–20 minutes, or until the chicken is cooked through (internal temperature 165°F / 74°C) and the top is golden brown.
  8. Let rest for 5 minutes before serving. Garnish with chopped parsley if desired.

Notes

  • Use cooked, shredded rotisserie chicken for a faster version — reduce baking time to 25 minutes.
  • Add steamed broccoli or green beans for a full one-pan meal.
  • Try different stuffing flavors like herb-seasoned or cornbread for variety.
  • This dish freezes well — assemble and freeze before baking for a make-ahead meal.
