Description

A moist and rich banana bread infused with deep chocolate flavor and a hint of espresso, perfect for breakfast or an indulgent snack.

Ingredients

  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 tsp baking soda
  • 1/2 tsp salt
  • 1/2 cup unsweetened cocoa powder
  • 1 tsp espresso powder
  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter, melted
  • 3/4 cup brown sugar
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract
  • 3 ripe bananas, mashed
  • 1/2 cup sour cream or Greek yogurt
  • 3/4 cup chocolate chips

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C) and grease a 9×5-inch loaf pan.
  2. In a bowl, whisk together flour, baking soda, salt, cocoa powder, and espresso powder.
  3. In another bowl, mix melted butter and brown sugar until smooth.
  4. Add eggs one at a time, then stir in vanilla extract.
  5. Mix in mashed bananas and sour cream until combined.
  6. Gradually add dry ingredients to the wet mixture and mix just until incorporated.
  7. Fold in chocolate chips.
  8. Pour batter into the prepared loaf pan and smooth the top.
  9. Bake for 55–65 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted in the center comes out mostly clean.
  10. Cool in the pan for 10 minutes, then transfer to a wire rack to cool completely.

Notes

  • Use very ripe bananas for the best sweetness and flavor.
  • Do not overmix the batter to keep the bread tender.
  • Espresso powder enhances chocolate flavor without making it taste like coffee.
