Description
Creamy, spicy-sweet udon noodles tossed in a rich gochujang sauce with garlic and cream for a bold, comforting Korean-inspired noodle dish.
Ingredients
- 14 oz (400 g) fresh or frozen udon noodles
- 1 tbsp sesame oil
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- 2 tbsp gochujang (Korean chili paste)
- 1 tbsp soy sauce
- 1 tsp sugar or honey
- 1/2 cup heavy cream
- 1/4 cup reserved noodle cooking water
- 1 tsp rice vinegar
- 1 tbsp butter
- 2 tbsp sliced green onions
- 1 tsp sesame seeds (optional)
Instructions
- Cook udon noodles according to package instructions; reserve 1/4 cup cooking water and drain noodles.
- Heat sesame oil and butter in a large skillet over medium heat.
- Add garlic and sauté for 30 seconds until fragrant.
- Stir in gochujang, soy sauce, sugar, and rice vinegar.
- Add heavy cream and reserved noodle water; whisk until smooth.
- Simmer sauce for 2–3 minutes until slightly thickened.
- Add cooked udon noodles and toss to coat evenly.
- Cook for 1–2 minutes until noodles are heated through.
- Garnish with green onions and sesame seeds and serve hot.
Notes
- Adjust gochujang for desired spice level.
- Add mushrooms, spinach, or shrimp for extra texture.
- Sauce thickens as it cools—serve immediately.
