Description
Golden and crispy air fryer apple fries coated in cinnamon sugar, tender on the inside and perfectly crisp on the outside. A fun and lighter dessert or snack that’s quick to make and irresistibly delicious.
Ingredients
- 3 large apples (Granny Smith or Honeycrisp)
- 1/2 cup (60g) all-purpose flour
- 2 large eggs
- 1 cup (100g) panko breadcrumbs
- 1/3 cup (65g) granulated sugar
- 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
- 1/4 teaspoon nutmeg (optional)
- Cooking spray
- Caramel sauce for dipping (optional)
Instructions
- Preheat the air fryer to 375°F (190°C).
- Peel the apples and slice them into fry-shaped sticks.
- Set up a dredging station with three bowls: one with flour, one with beaten eggs, and one with panko breadcrumbs mixed with half of the cinnamon.
- Dredge each apple slice in flour, dip into the egg, then coat with the breadcrumb mixture.
- Lightly spray the air fryer basket with cooking spray and arrange the coated apple fries in a single layer without overcrowding.
- Spray the tops lightly with cooking spray and air fry for 8–10 minutes, flipping halfway through, until golden and crispy.
- In a small bowl, mix granulated sugar with remaining cinnamon and nutmeg.
- Immediately toss the warm apple fries in the cinnamon sugar mixture.
- Serve warm with caramel sauce for dipping if desired.
Notes
- Work in batches to avoid overcrowding for maximum crispiness.
- For extra crunch, double coat the apples in egg and breadcrumbs.
- Best enjoyed fresh, as they may soften over time.
