Ingredients
- 1 lb ground chicken
- 1 tablespoon olive oil
- 1 small onion, finely chopped
- 1 green bell pepper, diced
- 1/2 red bell pepper, diced
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- 2 tablespoons Cajun seasoning
- 1 teaspoon smoked paprika
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 1/4 teaspoon black pepper
- 1 tablespoon tomato paste
- 1/2 cup tomato sauce
- 1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce
- 1 tablespoon brown sugar
- 1 teaspoon hot sauce (optional)
- 4 hamburger buns or brioche rolls
- 1 tablespoon butter (for toasting buns)
- Fresh parsley for garnish (optional)
Instructions
- Heat olive oil in a large skillet over medium heat.
- Add onion, green bell pepper, and red bell pepper. Sauté for 3–4 minutes until softened.
- Stir in minced garlic and cook for another 30 seconds until fragrant.
- Add ground chicken and cook, breaking it apart, until browned and cooked through (about 6–8 minutes).
- Stir in Cajun seasoning, smoked paprika, salt, and pepper. Mix well to coat the meat.
- Add tomato paste, tomato sauce, Worcestershire sauce, brown sugar, and hot sauce. Stir and simmer for 5–7 minutes until the sauce thickens slightly.
- Meanwhile, toast hamburger buns with butter in a separate pan until golden brown.
- Spoon the Cajun chicken mixture onto the buns, garnish with fresh parsley if desired, and serve hot.
