Description
A quick and easy homemade chow mein made with tender noodles, crisp vegetables, and a savory soy-based sauce—perfect for a fast weeknight meal.
Ingredients
- 8 oz (225 g) chow mein noodles or spaghetti
- 2 tbsp vegetable oil
- 1 cup shredded cabbage
- 1/2 cup carrots, julienned
- 1/2 cup bean sprouts
- 3 green onions, sliced
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- 1/4 cup soy sauce
- 1 tbsp oyster sauce
- 1 tsp sugar
- 1/2 tsp sesame oil
- 1/4 tsp black pepper
Instructions
- Cook chow mein noodles according to package instructions; drain and set aside.
- Heat vegetable oil in a large wok or skillet over medium-high heat.
- Add garlic and sauté for 30 seconds until fragrant.
- Add cabbage and carrots; stir-fry for 2–3 minutes until slightly tender.
- Add bean sprouts and green onions and cook for 1 minute.
- In a small bowl, mix soy sauce, oyster sauce, sugar, sesame oil, and black pepper.
- Add cooked noodles to the skillet.
- Pour sauce over noodles and toss everything together until well coated and heated through.
- Serve hot.
Notes
- Add chicken, shrimp, or tofu for extra protein.
- Use high heat for authentic stir-fry flavor.
- Adjust soy sauce to taste.
