Description

A cozy, savory beef and noodles dish made with tender ground beef, caramelized onions, French onion soup flavor, and egg noodles in a creamy, comforting sauce.

Ingredients

  • 12 oz egg noodles
  • 1 lb ground beef
  • 1 large onion, thinly sliced
  • 2 tbsp butter
  • 1 packet French onion soup mix
  • 1 can (10.5 oz) cream of mushroom soup
  • 1 cup beef broth
  • 1 cup sour cream
  • 1 tsp garlic powder
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • 1 cup shredded mozzarella or Swiss cheese (optional)
  • Fresh parsley for garnish

Instructions

  1. Cook egg noodles according to package directions. Drain and set aside.
  2. In a large skillet, melt butter and sauté sliced onions over medium heat until softened and lightly caramelized, about 10 minutes.
  3. Add ground beef to the skillet and cook until browned. Drain excess fat.
  4. Stir in French onion soup mix, cream of mushroom soup, beef broth, and garlic powder.
  5. Simmer 5–7 minutes until sauce thickens slightly.
  6. Reduce heat and stir in sour cream until creamy.
  7. Add cooked noodles and fold gently to coat. Season with salt and pepper.
  8. Optional: Top with cheese, cover, and let melt for 2–3 minutes.
  9. Garnish with parsley and serve warm.

Notes

  • Use wide egg noodles for the best texture.
  • Caramelize the onions longer for deeper flavor.
  • Swap ground beef for shredded beef or steak bites for a richer version.
