Description

Frosted Coffee Brownies are rich, fudgy brownies infused with bold coffee flavor and topped with a creamy espresso frosting — the perfect dessert for coffee and chocolate lovers alike.

Ingredients

  • For the Brownies:
  • ½ cup unsalted butter
  • 8 ounces semisweet chocolate, chopped (or chocolate chips)
  • ¾ cup granulated sugar
  • ¼ cup brown sugar
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 2 tablespoons brewed coffee (strong)
  • ¾ cup all-purpose flour
  • 2 tablespoons unsweetened cocoa powder
  • ¼ teaspoon salt
  • For the Frosting:
  • 4 tablespoons unsalted butter, softened
  • 1 ½ cups powdered sugar
  • 1 tablespoon instant coffee granules (dissolved in 1 tablespoon hot water)
  • 12 tablespoons milk or cream (as needed for consistency)
  • ½ teaspoon vanilla extract

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C). Line an 8×8-inch baking pan with parchment paper and lightly grease.
  2. In a heatproof bowl, melt butter and chocolate together over a double boiler (or in the microwave in 30-second intervals), stirring until smooth. Let cool slightly.
  3. Whisk in granulated sugar, brown sugar, eggs, vanilla extract, and brewed coffee until combined.
  4. Sift in flour, cocoa powder, and salt. Gently fold until just combined — do not overmix.
  5. Pour batter into the prepared pan and spread evenly. Bake for 25–30 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted in the center comes out with moist crumbs. Do not overbake.
  6. Let brownies cool completely in the pan before frosting.
  7. Make the Frosting: In a bowl, beat butter until creamy. Add powdered sugar, dissolved coffee, vanilla, and 1 tablespoon milk. Beat until smooth and fluffy, adding more milk if needed for a spreadable consistency.
  8. Spread frosting evenly over the cooled brownies. Chill for 10–15 minutes to set before slicing.
  9. Serve and enjoy with a hot cup of coffee!

Notes

  • For a stronger coffee flavor, add 1 teaspoon espresso powder to the brownie batter.
  • Replace milk in the frosting with cream for a richer texture.
  • Store in an airtight container at room temperature for up to 3 days or in the refrigerator for up to 5 days.
