Description

A classic homemade Banoffee pie featuring a buttery biscuit base, creamy dulce de leche, fresh bananas, and light whipped cream, finished with chocolate for a perfect balance of flavors.

Ingredients

  • 2 cups digestive biscuits or graham crackers, crushed
  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter, melted
  • 1 can (14 oz) sweetened condensed milk
  • 3 ripe bananas, sliced
  • 1 1/2 cups heavy whipping cream
  • 2 tbsp powdered sugar
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract
  • Dark chocolate shavings or cocoa powder (for garnish)

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C).
  2. Combine crushed biscuits with melted butter until well mixed.
  3. Press the mixture firmly into the base and sides of a 9-inch pie dish.
  4. Bake the crust for 10 minutes, then let it cool completely.
  5. To prepare dulce de leche, simmer the unopened can of condensed milk in water for 2 hours, keeping it fully submerged. Allow it to cool before opening.
  6. Spread the dulce de leche evenly over the cooled crust.
  7. Layer sliced bananas over the caramel.
  8. Whip the cream with powdered sugar and vanilla extract until soft peaks form.
  9. Spread or pipe whipped cream over the banana layer.
  10. Garnish with chocolate shavings or cocoa powder.
  11. Refrigerate for at least 1 hour before serving.

Notes

  • Ensure the condensed milk can cool completely before opening.
  • Lightly brushing bananas with lemon juice helps prevent browning.
  • Best enjoyed fresh on the day it is made.
