Description

Italian Cannoli Cream Pie is a rich and creamy dessert inspired by classic cannoli filling, featuring a sweet ricotta-mascarpone cream studded with chocolate chips in a crisp pie crust and finished with a touch of citrus.

Ingredients

  • 1 pre-made pie crust (graham cracker or pastry, 9-inch)
  • 1 cup whole-milk ricotta cheese, drained
  • 1 cup mascarpone cheese
  • 3/4 cup powdered sugar
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1/2 teaspoon orange zest
  • 1/2 cup mini chocolate chips
  • 1/2 cup heavy whipping cream
  • Optional: chopped pistachios for topping

Instructions

  1. If using a pastry crust, bake according to package instructions and let cool completely.
  2. In a large bowl, beat ricotta and mascarpone until smooth and creamy.
  3. Add powdered sugar, vanilla extract, and orange zest; mix until well combined.
  4. In a separate bowl, whip heavy cream to stiff peaks.
  5. Gently fold whipped cream into the ricotta mixture.
  6. Fold in mini chocolate chips.
  7. Spoon filling into the prepared pie crust and smooth the top.
  8. Refrigerate for at least 4 hours or until fully set.
  9. Garnish with chopped pistachios before serving, if desired.

Notes

  • Drain ricotta well to avoid a watery filling.
  • Mascarpone adds extra richness but cream cheese can be substituted.
  • Best served chilled.
  • Store leftovers covered in the refrigerator.
