Description
Light, airy churro bites made from angel food cake cubes, fried until crisp and coated in cinnamon sugar for an easy, irresistible treat.
Ingredients
- 1 prepared angel food cake (store-bought or homemade)
- 1 cup granulated sugar
- 1 tbsp ground cinnamon
- Vegetable oil, for frying
- Caramel sauce or chocolate sauce (optional, for dipping)
Instructions
- Cut the angel food cake into 1–1.5 inch cubes.
- In a bowl, mix the sugar and cinnamon; set aside.
- Heat 1–2 inches of vegetable oil in a deep skillet or pot to 350°F (175°C).
- Fry the cake cubes in batches for 30–45 seconds per side, or until golden and crispy.
- Remove with a slotted spoon and immediately toss in the cinnamon-sugar mixture to coat.
- Serve warm with caramel or chocolate sauce for dipping if desired.
Notes
- Do not over-fry—angel food cake browns quickly.
- For extra flavor, add a pinch of nutmeg to the cinnamon sugar.
- Best served immediately while warm and crisp.
