Marry Me Melting Cabbage is a rich, tender baked cabbage dish coated in a creamy, garlicky, Parmesan-infused sauce with herbs and chili flakes. The cabbage becomes irresistibly soft and caramelized, making it a comforting, show-stopping side or vegetarian main.
Ingredients
- 1 large green cabbage, cut into thick wedges
- 3 tablespoons olive oil
- 1 tablespoon butter
- 4 cloves garlic, minced
- 1 cup heavy cream
- 1/2 cup grated Parmesan cheese
- 1 teaspoon Italian seasoning
- 1/2 teaspoon red chili flakes
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 1/4 teaspoon black pepper
- 1/4 cup vegetable broth
- 2 tablespoons chopped fresh parsley
Instructions
- Preheat the oven to 190°C (375°F).
- Arrange cabbage wedges in a baking dish and drizzle with olive oil.
- Roast the cabbage for 25 minutes until lightly golden.
- Meanwhile, melt butter in a pan over medium heat and sauté garlic until fragrant.
- Add vegetable broth and heavy cream, then stir in Parmesan, Italian seasoning, chili flakes, salt, and pepper.
- Simmer the sauce for 3–4 minutes until slightly thickened.
- Pour the sauce evenly over the roasted cabbage.
- Return to the oven and bake for another 20 minutes until the cabbage is meltingly tender.
- Garnish with fresh parsley and serve hot.
Notes
- For extra browning, broil for 2–3 minutes at the end.
- You can substitute half-and-half for a lighter version.
- Add mozzarella on top for an extra cheesy finish.
