Description

A festive mint chocolate puppy chow made with crunchy cereal coated in chocolate, peanut butter, and peppermint, then tossed in powdered sugar for an irresistible sweet snack.


Ingredients

  • 9 cups rice square cereal
  • 1 cup semi-sweet chocolate chips
  • 1/2 cup creamy peanut butter
  • 1/4 cup unsalted butter
  • 1/2 tsp peppermint extract
  • 1 1/2 cups powdered sugar
  • 1/4 cup green candy melts or mint chocolate chips (optional)


Instructions

  1. Place cereal in a large heatproof bowl.
  2. In a microwave-safe bowl, combine chocolate chips, peanut butter, and butter.
  3. Microwave in 30-second intervals, stirring between, until smooth.
  4. Stir in peppermint extract.
  5. Pour chocolate mixture over cereal and gently toss to coat evenly.
  6. Allow mixture to cool slightly.
  7. Transfer coated cereal to a large resealable bag or bowl.
  8. Add powdered sugar and shake or toss until fully coated.
  9. If using, melt green candy melts and drizzle over puppy chow.
  10. Let set before serving.

Notes

  • Peppermint extract is strong—do not add more than recommended.
