Description

A sweet and salty treat made with crunchy pretzels, rich homemade caramel, and melted chocolate, broken into bark-style pieces.

Ingredients

  • 4 cups mini pretzels
  • 1 cup unsalted butter
  • 1 cup brown sugar, packed
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract
  • 1/2 tsp sea salt
  • 2 cups semi-sweet chocolate chips
  • Additional flaky sea salt for topping

Instructions

  1. Line a baking sheet with parchment paper. Spread pretzels evenly in a single layer.
  2. In a saucepan, melt butter and brown sugar over medium heat. Bring to a boil and cook for 3–4 minutes until thickened.
  3. Remove from heat and stir in vanilla and sea salt.
  4. Pour caramel evenly over the pretzels and spread gently with a spatula.
  5. Bake at 350°F (175°C) for 5 minutes.
  6. Remove from oven and immediately sprinkle chocolate chips over the hot caramel.
  7. Let sit for 2 minutes, then spread the melted chocolate into an even layer.
  8. Sprinkle with flaky sea salt.
  9. Cool completely, then refrigerate 1 hour before breaking into pieces.

Notes

  • Use dark chocolate for a less sweet bark.
  • Add chopped nuts for extra crunch.
  • Store in the fridge to keep the bark firm.
