Description
Soft, fluffy sweet rolls infused with fresh orange zest and juice, baked until golden and finished with a glossy citrus glaze for the ultimate breakfast or brunch treat.
Ingredients
- 3 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
- 1 packet (2 1/4 tsp) active dry yeast
- 1/2 cup warm milk (110°F / 43°C)
- 1/4 cup granulated sugar
- 1/4 cup unsalted butter, melted
- 2 large eggs
- 1 tbsp orange zest
- 1/2 tsp salt
- 1/2 cup fresh orange juice
- 1/4 cup brown sugar
- 2 tbsp unsalted butter, softened (for filling)
- 1 cup powdered sugar
- 2–3 tbsp fresh orange juice (for glaze)
- 1/2 tsp vanilla extract (for glaze)
Instructions
- Dissolve yeast in warm milk with 1 tbsp sugar; let sit 5–10 minutes until foamy.
- In a large bowl, mix flour, remaining sugar, salt, eggs, melted butter, and orange zest.
- Add yeast mixture and mix until a soft dough forms.
- Knead dough for 8–10 minutes until smooth and elastic.
- Place dough in a greased bowl, cover, and let rise for 1–1.5 hours until doubled.
- Roll dough into a rectangle and spread softened butter evenly.
- Sprinkle brown sugar and drizzle orange juice over the dough.
- Roll up tightly and slice into 12 rolls.
- Place rolls in a greased baking dish, cover, and let rise 30 minutes.
- Bake at 175°C (350°F) for 22–25 minutes until golden.
- Whisk powdered sugar, orange juice, and vanilla to make glaze.
- Drizzle glaze over warm rolls and serve.
Notes
- Use freshly squeezed orange juice for best flavor.
- Glaze rolls while warm so it melts into the tops.
- Rolls can be prepared the night before and baked in the morning.
